Le Chéile Students Reach National Junior Mace Debate Finals

Heartfelt congratulations to students Aisling Murphy, Keira Delaney, and Grace Delaney from Le Chéile Secondary School on their outstanding achievement in reaching the All-Ireland Final of the National Junior Mace Debates hosted at University College Dublin.

Competing against some of the country’s most talented young debaters, the students delivered exceptional performances throughout the competition, demonstrating confidence, critical thinking, and excellent public speaking skills on a range of complex and thought-provoking motions.

Among the topics debated were:

  • “Cinematic universes do more harm than good for the film industry”

  • “Religion does more harm than good”

  • “The UN Security Council should abolish permanent seats”

A special congratulations goes to Aisling Murphy, who achieved an outstanding individual result by placing 10th overall speaker out of the 61 competitors who qualified for the national finals.

Representing the school on a national stage is a tremendous accomplishment, and all three students showcased remarkable dedication, intelligence, and composure throughout the event. The entire school community is incredibly proud of the way they represented Le Chéile with such distinction.
